Top Blog Posts of 2014: #2 Spiritual Addiction

I wrote about 87 posts for this blog in 2014. While I can’t recall them all, Spiritual Addiction was probably my favorite. I begin with a quotation from Teresa of Avila followed by a line from a Bob Dylan song:

In a little hilltop village, they gambled for my clothes
I bargained for salvation an’ they gave me a lethal dose.

Some of us take a “lethal dose” of religion. We fill our lives with all sorts of “spiritual” activity. We may even become “church superstars”. But if we have a string of broken relationships, we have a spiritual problem.
