Prayer of Recollection – Part 2

When we talk about the Prayer of Recollection we start with the word “collect”. What’s collected? We are. Our scattered faculties (reason, faith, will, understanding, and memory) are gathered or recovered. As this process matures, we find internal unity, wholeness, and integrity.

A similar phrase is the Prayer of “Infused” Recollection. This is a supernatural event in which God gathers our faculties. He centers us and illumines our understanding. He gives us insight into things we would otherwise not know.

We cannot make Infused Recollection happen. But solitude and silence can center us and create the context for illumination.
